Unhappy Abbey Lane 1, Dodworth 2

Score: Abbey Lane 1, Dodworth 2

Scorer: Josh Oxley-Adams

Man of the match: Bradley Wright; runner-up Ryan Pugh.

Unlucky in defeat

Abbey Lane's inability to convert their chances into goals was again their undoing as they lost at home to Dodworth.
The result was much-improved from the 5-1 thrashing earlier in the season but Abbey's efforts and commitment deserved much more.
Two golden chances - an open goal and a one-on-one, were both spurned with the score goalless and Dodworth made them pay as two goals midway through the second half settled a closely-fought battle.
Josh Oxley-Adams gave them hope 10 minutes from time when he headed home from close range but time ran out as Abbey pushed for the equaliser. Although the defeat was undeserved, it was further proof that Abbey are more than capable of holding their own in this division.
Bradley Wright was man of the match for possibly his best display of the season, making several top drawer saves, while the hard-working Ryan Pugh, given a man-marking role, excelled to take the runners-up award.
