Match Report

After last weeks posponment the lads were keen to get cracking on the new season.
The game opened very well, all the lads were switched on from the first whistle, and battled for everyhing.
Within the first 10 mins Callum had a stunning headder into the back of the net dissalowed for off side, 5 mins later and Aron found the back of the net again, only for th flag to spoil the celebration once more!

A high foot in the area won Abbey a penalty.. Callum with the loudest voice on the pitch (beating Martin!) was given the opportunity and smashed the ball into the back of the net leaving the keeper no hope!

1min from half time Abbey conceded a corner, and the ball was sadly fumbled into the net for the equalizer.

The 2nd half started as well as the 1st with Abbey holding their fair share of possession and terretory, some great football was pushed down the wings, and some sterling defending kept Abbey in the game.

Aston got a corner and drilled home an unstoppable headder putting them ahead for the first time in the game.

Abbey straight after won a 2nd penalty, Adam Mohammed steped up to take this one, and slotted it perfectly into the far corner well away from the keeper.

Abey created several more chances, with the flag halting pogress once again (we will work on the off side rule lads!!!!)

A tired Abbey lane in the last 10 mins of the game were overcome, and errors were forced, Tom Snookes and the defencive line who had been so strong for 50 mins were put under more pressure than they could handle and Abbey conceded 5 goals!!!
the score line was not reflective of the game, and was undeserved!

There were some superb performances and the lads should not be dissapointed by their performance as a whole, you all did yourselves proud. You all battled, you all showed determination and a desire to win... With that attitude, the results will come...
